Photo-a-day Challenge: Injustice

Today’s challenge was to find a photo that represents injustice. This picture in my morning paper screams “injustice” to me. A National Football League franchise owner has declared that the name of his team isn’t offensive. The General Manager declared it was “ludicrous” to suggest that. They are both wrong. It is a racial epithet. Substitute the nickname of any racial group — it just isn’t appropriate.

At a recent symposium at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, sportswriters, authors, and representatives from Native Americans discussed the racial slurs which are rooted in prejudice and history.
And yet, a prominent team here in the Nation’s Capital continues to insist that because there are high school teams with the same name, that it should be OK for a pro team. Really? Why should a billionaire be allowed to do this? Because he has more money?

I call that “injustice.”

C'mon. Say something! But play nice. All comments are moderated.
