Advent Photo-a-Day: Longing

DSC_0206

My soul is dry and thirsts for You, True God,
as a deer thirsts for water.
I long for the True God who lives.
Psalm 42:1-2a The Voice

The last of the green is fading from the lawn today. The rain has been ceaseless. It is cold and grey and wet. My lawn, my garden all need the rain as it was a dry and dusty August and September.

In these seasons of rain, I realize how dry things have been… and spiritually when I have been dry, I suddenly waken to the act of God’s Spirit is refreshing me.

That overwhelming longing, of waiting for the relief to come… that is the waiting of Advent. Yearning. Praying. Believing in the silence that God is still God and will provide.

That is the Longing we wait for God to fill…
