I stand
beside the thawing flowerbeds
in my back yard.
We are half-way to spring.
Half-thawed
still cold
still asleep
still dormant.
I remember
the drifts of snow
the cold winds of a polar vortex
the darkening sky
As Lent moves to Easter
and my yard shows signs
of gentle awakening
So too may my heart
throw off the grip of sin
leave behind its dormant state
and see the Spirit’s wings
birth again and again
new life
new growth
new joys
new work
For now I wait
I look to God
I believe in my only source of Hope
Spring will come
in a glorious resurrection of new life.
So may it be…
NO!
So it WILL be
in me.
Amen.
