In this cold night,
we watch the sun
slip away.
And as the skies meld day into night
we pray:

Lord, watch over
your homeless ones
who spend this night seeking shelter.
Give them a safe place
to rest and eat,
bring them security and hope.

Lord, protect
your homesteaded ones
who spend this night watching over
their pipes and doors and cars.
May they release things
into your hands
and know their only security is in You.

In this crystal cold
warm our hearts
and gently nudge us back
into places of cold and darkness
where Your light would shine.
