Monday Link Love

Politics, religion, family and beer. That’s a quick summary of this week’s list of links…

Politics:

1. It really is a horse race! Check out an animated summary of the Republican nomination process.

2. Herman Cain’s viewpoint: “Don’t blame the big banks,” he said. “If you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself.” No, I’m not kidding. Listen for yourself. Now, would anyone seriously vote for someone with that attitude?

3. Sign the on-line petition to fully fund the Feed the Future project through USAID.

Religion:

1. Millenials are trying to say it, eight ways to Sunday — don’t ‘do church’ the way you always have done it before. Nadia gives a great explanation why we need to listen to them.

2. Mason’s views on Gender and the Gospel. Excellent read!

Family:

1. Kyle and Corrie got married weekend before last.  It rained on their wedding day… kinda like this… but the love of God shines on them still. Congrats, you two! 🙂

2. I can’t explain the program completely since I’m not a Johnnie. But since some have asked “why St. John’s?” I’ll let the Johnnies speak for themselves.

3. I realized I never publicized my sister’s book – Finding Grace and Balance in the Cycle of Life.   Check it out! You can read more about her practice and philosophy for wholistic care here.  (If you don’t want to buy through Amazon, you can also buy her book there.)

Beer:

1. If you have enough beer, it’s easy to go from the ridiculous to the sublime… Yes, folks, this is the “Hawaii Five-O” theme music played with the hands. If you have 12 year old boys, I apologize in advance.

2. Oktoberfest is here. I visited Munich a few years ago – NOT during the Oktoberfest. But if you want to experience the crowds, the sights and the sounds, this is the official website.

3. Ah, beer. Homerish quotes are here.

4. And because it fits nowhere else… it’s The Theme from Shaft by a ukelele orchestra. If figure some had tossed back a few when they came up with this idea. Pretty funny. And cool. 🙂

Have a great week! 🙂
