She’s got that (umph!) personality…

We’re winding down this unit of CPE. The last week has been a review of all of the assessments and personality tests we’ve done over the last 3 units. I’m on overload.

The only thing that I could focus on was the old Lloyd Price song… (Yeah. I had to Google it!)

‘Cause you got (Personality)
Walk (Personality)
Talk (Personality)
Smile (Personality)
Charm (Personality)
Love (Personality)…

That was totally random. But if you know me it shouldn’t be a surprise. That’s the “otter” in me needing something creative to do while the rest of my mind is (sort of) engaged.

The only thing that bothers me about all these tests is that, yes, they are revealing, but they also are limiting and judging. And they can be used to pigeonhole people instead of allowing their growing edges to develop.

One time I had to take the Myers-Briggs test in a workplace setting. It was not a lot of fun. The consultant hired to “analyze” us used the result as a whip and a guilt trip to place us in ministry assignments, whether or not we enjoyed (or were competent) doing them.

Being an otter, I had to add a link to this video clip… Because that’s how I roll!

  1. I remember that video clip when it made the rounds on blogs… – cute! Congratulations on completing this part of CPE – do you have one more unit?

  2. Hey Terri
Yup – one more unit but it will be in the fall. This summer I’m focusing on family, church, and friends. CPE takes a lot out of me. I am doing some moonlighting as a chaplain here and there… but not for a lot of hours. I’m hopeful that I can go for certification at the ACPE conference next April. We’ll see!
