Call Waiting

With the remodeling job going on, there’ve been a couple of days where the power to the “mother ship” phone was cut (and thus, the answering machine.) So all incoming calls went to Verizon’s “voice messaging system.”

Except… I can’t access them. We switched to FiOS over the summer, and the passcode to the message service changed. To what, I don’t know. Verizon tells you how to set up your voice mail, what number to call to retrieve your voice mail, but doesn’t tell you what the passcode is. I’ve searched the user-grumpy Verizon website, and get various answers:

– enter your user name and password (we never set one up, I try and set one up and they claim we don’t have FiOS service)

– enter your phone number (same issue)

– enter your account number (this works!  HUZZAH!! – but when I go to the next screen, the text informs me that there is no “voice messaging system in Maryland”)

SAY WHAT????

SOoooo…  We still don’t have access to our voice mail (if you called and we didn’t call back, we’re not ignoring you!) Eventually I will get a real live person, employed by Verizon, who will tell me how to change or re-enter our username and pass code.

Until then, we’ll just keep having fun.
