#Reverb 10

I’ve joined a group of bloggers who are intentionally blogging about what they are pondering about the end of this year, and moving with intentionality into the next. This is a good exercise for me. I thought I was too late to start, but as it was pointed out to me, I can do 2 or more a day and “catch up” — so that’s what I’ll do. (Join in! The prompts and more info are HERE!)

December 1 – One Word

Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. Now, imagine it’s one year from today, what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you? (Author: Gwen Bell)

ONE WORD: Stretched
I finished my M.Div. taking 12 hours in the spring semester (that was a lot!!) and then started CPE in the summer. CPE in itself is a stretching experience. But the process of moving from full time student to full time chaplain has truly been a stretching one. I believe I’m in the right place, though. That’s why I’d like to see NEXT YEAR’S ONE WORD: Fruitful

December 2 – Writing

What do you do each day that doesn’t contribute to your writing — and can you eliminate it? (Author: Leo Babauta)

Probably the greatest hindrance I have to my writing is that I need coaching on the process and management of my ideas. I have a new connection to the publishing industry who is willing to put me in touch with the right kind of writing coaches. I’m really excited about that. I have in the back of my mind, two articles, one new research idea, and a book. Time to get serious and start writing!

December 3 – Moment

December 3 – Moment. Pick one moment during which you felt most alive this year. Describe it in vivid detail (texture, smells, voices, noises, colors). (Author: Ali Edwards)

Where I felt the most alive was standing on top of the Rockies, feeling the sting of the cold wind on my face. The wind was so strong I could lean into it and it almost held me up. The sun was warm on my back, and my family and I watched the antics of ground squirrels, birds and elk. The clouds were racing by on a bright blue sky. It was stunningly wonderful.
