I was blogging before I knew about the RevGals. When I finally “found” them, it was incredibly refreshing and totally a grace-gift!
RevGals get it. They understand why I am called to ministry. They engage in the serious questions of being a woman and a pastor, and enjoy the sillier moments too. They deal with the realities of ministry, family, friends and parishioners and accept that sometimes, not everyone is happy. They provide me with more books for my reading than I can ever ever read! (In fact, I am sure that in heaven, there will be a RevGals library… where they also serve chocolate covered strawberries on the side.)
RevGals are about fellowship, accountability, growth, support, and change. They send up prayers when asked, and even when they aren’t. They make me laugh. They understand why I love my cats (and have a guarded acceptance that we have a snake.)
One of these days, I will get to have a meet up with RevGals IRL. Until then – thanks, thanks, thanks!!!! for the inspiration of St. Casserole and Songbird and others who got the ball rolling!
Thanks for pursuing God’s grace and listening to the seed of an idea that’s grown and grown. Being in ministry is a joy – the realities of ministry are not.
In many areas of the Church, where women have no voice, and particularly where they are blocked from using their spiritual gifts, it is a particular blessing to have others who are willing to go out with grace and conviction with me — and be who we are called to be.
Thanks, RevGals!
