Jan from RevGals has this week’s Friday Five:
My friend Judy told a group of friends last week that her beloved hermit crab Al died. She missed Al–after six years of his company, even though she was not sure how pronounced his personality was or if he had one!
With the chewing exploits of our third dog, puppy Maisie, I am wondering about the pets we presently own and have had in the past. What about you? Tell us about the animals in your lives. If you have no pets, give examples of friends’ pets or imaginary ones!
1. Did you grow up with pets? Yes, we had cats (mostly) and one very memorable St. Bernard!
2. Do you have any pets now? Indeed we do. Three cats (Polgara, Tiria the Shadow Princess and King Henry) and one snake (Calvin — he’s into the predigestation of mice.) We also have the Marx brothers: Groucho, Harpo, Zeppo and Karl. They are Black Moor Goldfish.
3. What is the funniest or worst thing any of your pets have ever done? We have cats who have conversations — from opposite ends of the house. Henry in particular has a yowl that sounds like someone is plucking all of the hairs out of his tail, one by one. He also “worries” when our teens take showers. There’s just something about that “water beast” that makes him uneasy!
4. Who is/was your favorite pet? That’s a hard one. I have truly loved each one of our kitties.
5. How did you train your different pets? (Hysterical laughing…) You know the saying, “Dogs have owners; cats have staff.” Yeah. well, it’s true.
BONUS: Pictures of a pet or one you wish you could have.
Here’s our menagerie:
1. Henry, “worrying” about that water beast
2. Henry, “helping” me write a paper
3. Tiria sunning in the bay window
4. Calvin the ball python hair scrunchie
5. Polgara watching “Cat TV” (the fishtank)
By the way, though infrequently, our cats do blog. Polgara holds court infrequently and Tiria and Henry blog every now and again.
the hair scrunchie photo – AHHHHH!! I had to run screaming from the computer. Okay, not really. But if a snake tried to scrunchie my hair? I’d freak.
