Friday Five: The RUNNING LATE edition

Jan from RevGals writes:

As I opened up my computer this morning, I directly went to my blog and RevGals to see what the newest Friday Five would be! Nothing was here, which seemed odd. Then I went to look at the calendar and counted the Fridays, and it is the THIRD Friday! How did that happen so quickly? It’s my turn, so here’s a quickie:

1. Do you tend to be a late person or one who is timely, arriving on time or earlier? Oh I much prefer to be on time. However, when I’m traveling with others who are just more relaxed about timeliness (or who wait until the last possible second to leave the house) then it’s really out of my control. I don’t like giving up that control. (Yeah. It’s come up as a CPE issue. I’m working on it.)

2. Have you forgotten anything of importance lately? I did forget my ID and had to go back for it. I regularly make a list and leave it behind. And I’m terrible with names. TERRIBLE.

3. Is procrastination your inclination? Why or why not? Only when it’s something I hate doing. Like dishes. Or laundry. Or filing papers. Most of the time, I have a git ‘er done! attitude.

4. Do you like schedules or spontaneity? Which works best for you? I confess that I kinda like knowing what’s around the bend, even if I don’t have any control over when it happens. However, in CPE right now I’m learning to jettison this expectation 100% of the time and just rest in the Spirit’s leading. It’s actually pretty freeing. I’m liking it!

5. How do you stay on track with the various things you need to, people you must meet, etc., etc.? I love my iPhone. I really do. It beeps and chimes to remind me of all kinds of things. A nice luxury.

BONUS: Whatever comes to mind about forgetfulness or lateness. I heard a poem once that started something like this…

Between my ears, behind my brow,
I used to keep my brain, but now
It’s disappeared without a trace
And left an empty, airy space…

That’s my story and I’m sticking with it…
